Born under this weather.

I am an Icelandic photographer, born and living in Reykjavík. I photograph the country I grew up in — its lava fields, black shores and fjords — almost always in the hours when most people are asleep: the long twilight of the midnight sun, and the short violent windows when a storm breaks open.

Iceland is photographed millions of times a year, mostly in daylight, mostly from the same roadside pull-offs. My work is a bet that the island still keeps secrets — that if you stand in the rain long enough, it will occasionally show you a few minutes of light that nobody else was there to see. Those minutes are what I print.

Everything in this gallery is a single exposure of a real moment. No composites, no generated skies, no blended frames. What you hang on your wall happened — once — and the edition of twenty-five is the only record of it that will ever be sold.

The debut collection was photographed in the summer of 2026 on Iceland's west coast. The next is already underway.
